Valentine's Day Wreath

Ok here is another crafty post.  :)  I saw a cute Valentine's Day wreath at Michaels a few weeks ago and thought to myself "I can make that!"  So I bought some felt, material and a few felt hearts and started to re-create in my own way a Valentine's Day wreath.

Here are the colors I used.

I started shaping my wire coat hanger into a heart.  My husband helped me with the rounded hanger part by cutting it off, he then put electrical tape around it to make it smoother :)

I cut the felt and fabric into about 1 inch wide by 6 inch long strips.

I found these cute little heart felt stickers at JoAnne Fabrics.  I double them up so each side was finished.  I punched a hole in the corner and used some black wire I had in my jewelry making stash.

And here is the finished project:

I am still playing around with adding more hearts and fun stuff.  It will be hanging on our front door but wanted to hang it up inside first while it's being finished.

Happy Friday!  Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Papa's Celebration of Life!

This past weekend we all gathered together and had a wonderful party in my grandfather's honor.  When I was sitting there taking it all in I kept thinking to myself, "Papa would have LOVED this!"  It was an amazing ceremony!  Over 200 people came to celebrate this amazing man.  My father was the "MC" for this event and did an amazing job.  One job I don't think I could ever have the strength to do.  My brother also got up and did a wonderful toast to Papa.  My husband worked on a tribute video that was played at the memorial.  Click on here to see the slide show if you want to check it out.  I will miss my Papa so much and I hope that I am living the way he lived.  He was loved by many and always cared about them.

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Craft Machines....

Hello there!  Sorry I didn't get back quickly with a crafty post.  My mind has been else where these days and haven't had much time to do crafty things :(  But I will make a quick post about the new craft machines I got for Christmas this year.  Below is a picture of them...The one on the left is called a Cricut "Expressions" model.  It is a cutting machine that allows you to cut customized shapes and letters.  My good friend Laurie let me borrow her Cricut and I fell in love with it.  She said that I could borrow hers whenever I needed to but my husband got me one for Christmas :)  My mom and sister also got one for Christmas too!  Now we need to do a craft weekend soon.  Laurie also let me borrow another fabulous machine a Cuttlebug.  I also loved this machine.  When we were down in Arizona for Christmas I found this machine online through Joanne Fabrics for 50% with free shipping.  I couldn't pass up such a good deal.  The Cuttlebug embosses paper to add another element to your papercrafting.  I also got several embossing folders on sale.  My hubby helped me pick them out.  :)  Below is a picture of the folders I got.

Here is a Christmas banner that I made with my Cricut.

I made these cards with my Cricut.  I am still learning and playing around with designs so they are very beginner.  But I am having a fabulous time.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello! Long time no posts!

I am still alive.....it's been quite some time since my last post :( I have been told by a couple people that they miss reading my posts. I didn't want people to think I had a nervous breakdown since my last post was turning 30! haha! I will post some crafty things soon.

I really want to dedicate this post to my Papa.  He passed away in November and I miss him terribly.  He was an amazing man who is missed by many.  He was also a crafty person, always tooling around in his garage.  He was always a positive person regardless of circumstances.  A few days after he passed I received a letter from my Grandma Barb who said that she has received many cards and emails from people who knew Papa and how much they loved and respected him.  She included this quote from the Wizard of Oz... “Remember my friend a heart is not measured by how much you love others but by how much your were loved by others.” The Wizard said this to the Tin Man.  After reading that I LOVED it!  For those who know me that is my all time favorite movie and felt comfort in reading it.  I cherish the moments I still have with my family and try to make each visit the best.  Here is to you Papa......

I promise to do a crafty post this week sometime.  I have some exciting new craft machines to post about. :0)

Thanks for stopping by and being patient with my lack of posts.

Turning 30 Part 2.....

So to continue my turning 30 adventure....I last wrote about my surprise party which was FABULOUS! Thursday the 14th was my official Birthday. I arrived to work on Thursday with my desk completely covered with Birthday goodness :) decorations all over! The day was pretty much a junk food fest my friend Lisa special ordered on of my favorite cakes Black forest cake! It was delicious. They had a small potluck and it was a great day! Came home and my hubby brought home some fabulous flowers from the Co-op and we ordered take-out and watched movies it was a perfect night.

On Saturday we woke up and headed down to the Kitsap Peninsula for some more festivities. We started our day taking the Whidbey Island ferry. I LOVED it! It was such a pretty day! Best part is you can make reservations! When we got to the other side we were in Port Townsend! I love Port Townsend. We stopped at the brewery and picked up a jug of beer for the party. We then headed to Poulsbo for the night. My parents threw a fabulous party! It was so nice to have my family and friends there. Jon made a bon fire and we sat outside under the stars talking and laughing. What a wonderful party. Thanks to everyone for coming out and spending time with me! I love you all!!
